X geht nicht mehr nach einigen Neustarts

Für eine spezielle Anwendung, brauche ich einen Rechner mit gnome, gde und sonst eigentlich nichts. Darauf läuft eine selbstgeschriebene Anwendung.

1. Eine komplette Installation mit Desktop und Standard ergibt ca. 6GB Belegung.

2. Daher ein Versuch nur das notwendigste zu installieren
Habe nur das Standardsystem installiert und dann manuell (aptitude) xorg, gdm und gnome-core

Nach dem ich vor ca. einer Woche eine Weile damit gearbeitet hatte, schaltete ich den Rechner aus.
Als ich ihn am nächsten Tag wieder einschaltete, bootete der Rechner zwar, aber der Login-Screen (gdm) kam nicht.
Im Einzelbenutzermodus sah ich im in Xorg.0.log. zwar einige Warnungen aber keinen Fehler (EE).
startx sagte nur das es das display nicht öffnen kann.
Ich habe dann mit aptitude eine reinstallation von xcore und gdm gemacht und es ging wieder. Dann einen Tag später wieder das selbe Problem ohne spezifischen Fehler.

3. Noch einmal eine Neuinstallation. Erst Standardsystem mit netinst dvd und nachträglich gde, xorg und gnome. Dann habe ich mindestens zehnmal den Rechner eingeschaltet und wieder heruntergefahren. Es ging. Am nächsten Tag habe ich den Rechner wieder eingeschaltet. Und wieder das Problem. Nunmehr aber ein Fehler "first sdvo output reported failure to sync" in Xorg.0.log

Nun gibt es dafür auch gewisse Einträge im Internet. Aber das Ganze ist doch sehr merkwürdig. Wenn da ein Treiberproblem oder ähnliches existiert, warum geht es dann zehnmal und am nächsten Tag nicht mehr? Das ist ja mehrfach vorgekommen.

Liegt das vielleicht an der Flash-Disk? An der Art der Installation?

Ich kriege hier langsam ein übergeordnetes Problem, weil ich in Erklärungsnot bin warum es unmittelbar nach der Installationg ging (das ja jetzt auch nicht mehr) und dann am nächsten Tag nicht. Und vor allem, wie ich sicherstelle, das das nicht mehr passiert.

Im Grunde brauche ich nur gtk und gtk-extra für meine Oberfläche. Sollte ich vielleicht kde installieren?

Ich bin für jede Hilfe sehr dankbar.

Eine Lösung direkt habe ich nicht, aber der Installer für die 5.0.2 hatte einige Bugs, die in der neuen Version 5.0.3 nicht mehr bestehen.
Ich würde mit der Netinstall-CD nochmal neu aufsetzen und die xorg.conf im Auge behalten....

Kannst Du das mit der Xorg.conf etwas mehr detaillieren bitte? Ich hatte auch schon den Gedanken, das sich da was ungewollt verändert. Ausserdem steht da ausser "configured sowieso" nicht viel drin. Meinst Du sowas?

Und warum unbedingt gnome, bzw. so ein Riesendesktop für eine Anwendung?
Hau dir icewm oder jwm als windowmanager auf die Platte und gut ist. gdm ist so ziemlich das letzte, was du brauchst.

Mit so wenig Informationen kann man nur mutmaßen und wild spekulieren...

KDE zu installieren ist bei benötigten gtk- und gtk-extra-Abhängigkeiten die denkbar ungünstigste Lösung. KDE basiert auf einem Qt/KDE-Klotz und da du nur die erwähnten Pakete benötigst wäre eine Installation von KDE meiner Meinung nach Quatsch. xfce mit gtk-Abhängigkeiten wäre da schon eher etwas.

Aber letzendlich ist auch das keine Lösung deiner Einlogprobleme mit gdm.

Falls die /etc/X11/xorg.conf nach der Installation fast leer sein sollte kannst du das mit dem als root in einem Terminal oder der Console eingegebenen Befehl „dexconf“ beheben. Das ist tatsächlich ein Bug bei Debian gewesen.

gnome ist nicht unbedingt notwendig. Damit habe ich nur die meisten Erfahrungen und weiss das meine Software, allerdings unter Etch damit läuft.

Das ist (für meinen Kenntnisstand) etwas lakonisch. Soweit ich sehen kann hängt xfce von gtk2-engines ab. Meinst Du das?

Hmm. Das hat leider nicht geholfen. Allerdings noch mit der 5.0.2 Install-CD probiert.

Ja. Es scheint nur kein primaeres gdm-Problem oder X-Problem zu sein. Der x-server ist gestartet. (xinit meldet das, wenn ich es von einer Konsole aus aufrufe).

Das Problem scheint sich wiegesagt, irgendwie verlagert zu haben. Seit einigen Tagen erscheint eben dieser Fehler mit dem SDVO. Das wundert mich am meisten. Wie kann das sein, das erst garkein echter Fehler erscheint und dann dieser?

Die Diagnose ist hier wohl sehr schwierig. Möglicherweise macht es auch keinen Sinn, darauf zu insistieren, das SDVO-Problem deswegen zu ignorieren, WEIL es erst nach einer Weile auftrat.
Andererseits wäre mir nicht klar, warum ein eigentlich funktionierender Treiber auf einmal nicht mehr gehen sollte. Der sollte doch auch mit 5.0.3. dann falsch sein (oder wieder richtig). Oder kann der Installer die Treiber-Installation so versauen, das zwar tty geht aber nicht X? Deswegen meine Vermutung, das dies ein sekundärer Effekt ist. Mag sein das ich da falsch liege.

Also ich ziehe mir mal die 5.0.3 und probiere es.

Leider hat 5.0.3 nichts gebracht. Der selbe Fehler mit "SDVO....". Xorg.conf wurde nach der Installation von xcore, gdm und gnome-core nicht verändert. Dennoch....

Ich bin langsam echt am verzweifeln. Wieso geht es erst ohne den SDVO-Fehler, hört dann nach ein paar Tagen auf zu funktionieren, ohne spezifischen Fehler und bringt dann den SDVO-Fehler?
Sieht doch nach einem Treiber-Update aus, das nicht funktioniert, oder?
An xserver-xorg-video-intel ist eigentlich schon am 22. Januar was geändert worden und seitdem nicht mehr.

Ich sehe keine andere Möglichkeit, da ich morgen früh was zeigen muss, als es wieder mit 4.08 zu probieren.

Mit intel und SDVO kenne ich mich nicht aus, aber wenn man mit der Fehlermeldung mal google befragt, gibt es doch einige Einträge.
