Hallo Zusammen,
bin schon seit einiger Zeit am Versuchen meine Wlan Karte
(Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN [Kedron] Network Connection (rev 61))

zum Laufen zu bekommen. Habe bisher schon das Paket "firmware-iwlwifi" installiert.

Mein Problem:
Die Tastenkombination "FN u. F2" lässt die Wlan-LED kurz aufblinken, aber sie erlischt gleich darauf. Der Wicd-Manager zeigt auch kurz nach dieser Aktion mein Wlan-Router, allerdings verschwindet er gleich wieder.
Habe es auch schon mit dieser http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/wlan-via-iwl4965/ Anleitung versucht...

Wie kann ich meine Wlan-Karte überreden, dass sie längere Zeit eingeschaltet bleibt?

Ok,
habe jetzt das Paket "firmware-iwlwifi" deinstalliert und mir die aktuelle (ver. 1.2.26ks) iwl4965-Firmware geladen. Diese habe ich entpackt und in "/lib/firmware" kopiert. Habe dann mit
"modeprobe iwl4965 disabe=0" das Modul geladen und anschließend mit "/etc/init.d/networking restart" versucht die Netzwerkschnittstellen neu zu laden.
Leider findet der Wicd-Manager immer noch nichts und die Wlan-LED kriege ich mit "FN u. F2" immer noch nicht zum leuchten.

Allem Anschein nach kann er die Firmware nicht laden (oder nicht finden).

So sieht die Fehlermeldung auch aus, wenn das Modul nicht neu geladen wurde.

Oder Neustart...

anschließend mit "/etc/init.d/networking restart" versucht

In der interfaces-Datei sollte das WLAN-Gerät nicht auftauchen, der Restart macht deshalb keinen Sinn.

habe jetzt mal die Firmware-Datei von "iwlwifi-4965-2.ucode" in "iwlwifi-4965-1.ucode" umbenannt. Anschließend das Modul mit "modprobe -rf iwl4965" und "modprobe iwl4965" neu geladen, die Ausgabe hat sich nun verändert:

Allerdings findet der Wicd-Manager noch immer keine ACs und ich kann die Wlan-LED nicht mit der Tastenkombination ("FN" u. "F2") noch immer nicht aktivieren.

Ok,
habe jetzt eine radikalere Lösung gewählt und nach dieser Anleitung http://debianforum.de/forum/viewtopic.p ... 7&start=15 den aktuellen Kernel 2.6.29-rc8-686 installiert.
Anschließend habe ich die manuell geladene Firmware gelöscht (da sich diese anscheinend quergestellt hat) und wieder das Paket "firmware-iwlwifi" installiert. Nun findet der Wicd-Manager endlich mein Wlan und ich kann jetzt endlich zwischen WPA2-ACs wechseln ohne die Konsole zu benutzen.

Habe zum Abschluss nur zwei Fragen:
1. Warum finde ich nach dem Einfügen des Links "deb http://kernel-archive.buildserver.net/debian-kernel trunk main" in die sources.list lediglich den 2.6.26 und den 2.6.29 Kernel mit "aptitude search linux-image"? Würde nämlich eigentlich lieber den 2.6.27 bzw. 2.6.28 installieren.....

2. Wie groß ist das Risiko wenn ich mit Squeeze einen 2.6.29 laufen lasse bzw. worauf sollte ich achten?
