Kernel oops mit 2.6.12.2 und Intel 6300ESB Sata

ich hab da mal wieder so ein spezielles Problem:
Wir haben einen neuen Server bekommen als Ersatz für unser schon etwas in die Jahre gekommenes Gateway. Ist ne ziemlich nette Kiste, mit Intel Chipsatz:

Nachdem ich erstmal ein Debian installiert hatte (Da war vom Werk her nen Suse 9.3 drauf *bäh*) wollte ich nen neuen 2.6.12.2 Kernel draufbacken.

Konfiguration wr kein Prob, aber beim Neustart erkannte der eine der drei Partitionen auf der SATA Platte nicht mehr! (1x 80 GB Platte, 2 GB Swap, 20 GB /, 58 GB /var, Cdrom an normalem IDE)

Der debianeigene Kernel (kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686) läuft ohne Probleme. Leider ist der keine Option, da eine Reihe von Patchen in den Kernel sollen. (unter anderem: l7.sourceforge.net)

Hat einer von Euch ne Idee, woran das liegen könnte? Ich kann leider nich mit einer richtigen Fehlermeldung dienen, die müßte ich erst vom Bildschirm abschreiben.
