geoipupdate cannot be installed / MaxMind

How can I install the package geoipupdate?

It could not be installed out of the Debian-Packages, but it should be there: https://packages.debian.org/buster/allpackages

The same information were received at Debian 10.11 and Ubuntu 20.04:

#: apt install geoipupdate
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package geoipupdate

Also adding the MaxMind-ppa did not work:

#: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:maxmind/ppa

Das betreffende Paket befindet sich in contrib – hast du das in deine sources.list aufgenommen, und anschließend ein apt update gemacht?

ppa sind in der Regel für Ubuntu, bei nem Debian häufig keine gute Idee.

geoipupdate befindet sich in contrib. Das heißt, du mußt die Datei /etc/apt/sources.list anpassen.
