Habe heute mal smartd wieder aktiviert.

Führt die Platte den, unabhängig von smartd, nicht selbstständig regelmäßig Tests durch?
smartctrl/smartd ließt doch nur die Resultate davon aus.
Hier sehe ich aber zwischen #3 und #2 eine rießen Pause.

Haber ich da wohl etwas falsch verstanden?

Ohne smartd wird gar nix automatisch getestet und ich fahre meine Platten sozusagen blind?

Nebenfrage: Ich konnte bisher keine Infos dazu finden, wie häufig smartd (oder eben die Platte selbst) diverse Testformen durchführt, ohne dass ich explizit das (z.B. in /etc/default/smartd.conf) konfiguriert hätte - also default.

kA was manche Platten machen, aber bei allen die ich kenne muss man die Selftests manuell anreißen. Die Werte sammeln die Platten aber wohl selbstständig.

Wozu dauernd Tests laufen lassen.

smartd liest per default alle 30min. die Werte aus und - wenn entsprechend konfiguriert - benachrichtigt er dich bei Änderungen (von dir auszuwählender) Werte. Schau mal in die /etc/smartd.conf und /etc/smartmontools/run.d/60smart-notifier, das sollte doch reichen?
