Unable to even reach installation GUI [watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#3 stuck for 22s!]

Hello,
I have acquired a Acer Nitro 5 with Ryzen 7 2700U CPU, with Windows 10 pre-installed.
I have spent several days now trying to install Debian, all attempts resulting in error messages about "soft lockups" before any installation GUI appears (after USB boot).
I have attempted a few kernel paremeters:
- nouveau.modeset=0
- processor.max_cstate=1
None of them seem to do anything for me.

Maybe http://forums.debian.net/ is a better place for english speaking users. You are not trying to install Debian 9 (Stretch) or earlier on a Ryzen machine, are you?
